The UN Human Rights Council established the Working Group in 2011 with a mandate to promote the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. To fulfill this mandate, the Working Group undertakes country visits to evaluate the human rights situation in particular countries and to identify, exchange, and promote good practices and lessons learned on the implementation of the Guiding Principles.
The delegation will be represented by two of the Working Group’s five members, Mr. Surya Deva and Ms. Anita Ramasastry. The Working Group would like to meet with representatives from companies that are participants of the Global Compact Network Canada to learn from their experience and initiatives to promote responsible business conduct that respects human rights.
