GM has a strong commitment to the environment and climate change. We publicly advocate for climate action and have pledged to meet 100 percent of the electricity needs of our global operations with renewable energy, such as wind, sun and landfill gas, by 2050. We have 73 facilities that received EPA Energy Star Challenge for Industry and over 150 facilities that are landfill-free, of which seven facilities are in Canada. GM Canada also is a strong partner in the communities we operate, including protecting wildlife habitat and supporting STEM education.

By joining Global Compact Network Canada, GM Canada can promote our sustainability commitment and adopt best business practices from the Canadian network, thus aligning GM Canada with General Motors commitment in becoming a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact.
