A Common Language
The UN Global Compact provides a universal language for corporate responsibility and provides a policy framework for organizing and developing corporate sustainability strategies. The UN Global Compact provides your company with a powerful alignment to global action plans including the Paris Climate Agreement and is the formal way for your company to commit to:
The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact
At the UN Global Compact, we aim to mobilize a global movement of sustainable companies and stakeholders to create the world we want. That’s our vision.
We ask companies to become more sustainable by incorporating the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact into strategies, policies and procedures, and establishing a culture of integrity. By doing so, companies are not only upholding their basic responsibilities to people and planet but also aligning to a set of universal principles that are accepted by countries across the world.
For companies wanting to advance the SDG agenda, the job starts by acting responsibly – incorporating the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact widely into strategies and operations. Learn more about A Principles-Based Approach to the SDGs.
To move from awareness to action, the UN Global Compact offers participants an extensive toolbox including next-generation solutions platforms, an online UN Business Action Hub and resources that will help your business take action to achieve the SDGs. Learn more about what the UN Global Compact offers on the global level.
While the SDGs are universal, they will very much be addressed at the national level. In Canada, the Global Compact Network Canada is spearheading the SDGs and working with different Canadian companies to increase awareness and uptake.
