Building Alliances In The Workplace Action Plan

In collaboration with Accelerate Her Future, the UN Global Compact Network Canada introduces the “Building Alliances In The Workplace: Creating A Personal Advocacy And Solidarity" Action Plan.

This resource is designed to offer actionable strategies and insights for nurturing inclusive workplace environments, focusing on the challenges faced by Indigenous, Black, and racialized individuals.

Why This Toolkit Is Essential

Our global economy thrives on diversity, and creating inclusive workplaces is key to sustainable business success. This guide is designed to help your organization not just embrace diversity, but to celebrate and empower every individual, especially those from marginalized communities. It's about equipping everyone with the tools to build a workplace where diversity is not just accepted, but valued.

The 50 – 30 Challenge

The 50 – 30 Challenge is an initiative to increase diverse representation in businesses, non-profits, and institutions throughout Canada. By voluntarily signing up for the challenge, organizations commit to meeting specific representation targets. These targets include:

  • 50% representation of women or gender non-binary individuals on boards and/or in senior management roles.
  • 30% representation of equity-deserving groups, including racialized people, Indigenous individuals, those with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQI2S+ community, on boards and/or in senior management roles.

As an official Ecosystem Partner of the 50 – 30 Challenge, we support organizations in meeting and maintaining the 50 – 30 Challenge targets. We have launched a three-year project called "The Future is Equal: Enabling Ecosystems of Support in Canada" to provide services and assistance to organizations committed to achieving the challenge's representation goals.

As part of our commitment to the 50 – 30 Challenge, we encourage you to leverage this guide to deepen your understanding and enhance your company's inclusivity efforts.
