Lundin Mining Corporation (LMC), headquartered in Toronto, is a Canadian mining company with operations in Sweden, Portugal, the USA and Chile, and non-operating interests in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Finland. LMC joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and its Canadian network (GCNC) in 2016 and is committed to the implementation of sustainable business practices in alignment with the 10 Principles of the UNGC, and to embedding these as a fundamental part of the Company’s organizational culture, business strategy, and operations practices.
LMC’s Responsible Mining (RM) Policy describes our specific management commitments related to Health and Safety, Environment, Social and Economic business aspects, and Governance. Lundin is in the process of implementing a Responsible Mining Management System (RMMS) Standard as an enhancement to policies and practices already in place. The Standard constitutes auditable requirements for management system(s) to be implemented at sites where LMC is in operational control, to ensure operational alignment with Policy commitments. Where Lundin is not the operator, the RMMS will be used to benchmark the operator’s practices against our own policies. RMMS implementation supports our overall effort to improve our sustainability performance and achieve operational alignment with the 10 Principles of the UNGC and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
In joining the Global Compact Network Canada (GCNC) we look forward to collaborating with other leading Canadian companies in resource development and other sectors to generate long-term value through continuous sustainability improvement.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
