Tune into this webinar to learn about the international momentum on Carbon Pricing and why more and more companies are becoming Carbon Pricing Champions – and the benefits they are experiencing.
Today, many countries and over 20 cities, states and provinces use carbon pricing mechanisms or are preparing to implement them. And a growing number of business leaders support carbon pricing as an effective way to incentivize low-carbon growth and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
Through the UNGC platform Caring for Climate, now more than 40 companies have become Carbon Pricing Champions pledging to align with the UN’s Business Leadership Criteria on Carbon Pricing:
Set an internal carbon price high enough to materially affect investment decisions to drive down greenhouse gas emissions;
Publicly advocate the importance of carbon pricing through policy mechanisms that take into account country specific economies and policy contexts; and
Communicate on progress over time on the two criteria above in public corporate reports.
In the lead-up to COP21 in Paris in December 2015, UN Global Compact seeks to mobilize companies – large and small – to become Carbon Pricing Champions.
