We noticed the societal gaps that would prevent certain groups of parents from setting up and/or being willing to participate in learning pods. Low income families, especially single parents, and many newer immigrated families, as well as minorities fall into these categories. https://apple.news/AUlZq6PTYRcOUAXv3zgIwPQ
The threat of the pandemic, combined with dissatisfaction of parents with the educational system have driven many families towards forming these small (3-8 students) educational pods, which collectively get schooled or at times, homeschooled. Our company is set up to support these families in the education pods (schools of tomorrow) by presenting a comprehensive curriculum that has multiple SDGs embedded in it.
Ibex Academia is a virtual educational institute that aims to deliver a comprehensive Science/Math/Literacy-focused curriculum which is implemented collaboratively. All stakeholders in the education process are expected to contribute to the delivery of this relevant curriculum and to the assessment of the learners.
The education industry is suffering globally. While the student/teacher ratios have increased in the past century, the implementation, delivery and ultimately the quality of education have been affected. A universal/global curriculum based on universal subjects such as Science & Math can readily address SDGs. These goals can only be realistically accomplished if our students are educated about them in as early stages of their lives as possible. Another positive impact of our initiative is the involvement of multiple stakeholders in the various stages of the process of education. This will energize various constituents in the community to become aware of and address the SDGs.
Our pitch, and our goals are so in line with SDGs of the UN. The type of support we will be requesting (& hopefully receiving) through this journey and how this support would ultimately help the (especially needy) students will certainly be shared on social media. Our business success (internally), as a result, reflects the achieving of SDGs. We will certainly celebrate on social media our accomplishments in our local communities and ultimately globally as we believe our business model is certainly universal (external). Ibex Academia is founded based on a curriculum that is consistently parallel with multiple SDGs. Every attempt to promote/market our business will certainly build awareness for these precious goals.
We have considered various models in terms of educators/learners’ ratios, the costs involved in running a vigorous global curriculum, and the pros and cons of virtual mode of education. The on-set of the pandemic has accelerated the transition from in-person to virtual modes of education. Unfortunately, this is coinciding with widening socioeconomic and gender gaps. After conducting in depth analyses, we have managed to come up with an inclusive, and feasible business package that can readily and successfully be scaled.
