2019 SDG Leadership Awards

Put your organization forward and be at the forefront of
Canada’s SDG movement!

The SDG Leadership Awards is Canada’s premier Awards event for recognizing businesses and non-businesses that are doing exceptional work to integrate and advance action towards the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

The Global Compact Network Canada has collected entries from organizations across the private, not-for-profit, and academic sectors across Canada, with the goal of highlighting the leadership and accomplishments that these organizations have made towards solving some the most pressing environmental, social and economic challenges in our communities.

Why participate in the 2019 Canadian SDG Leadership Awards?

Showcase Leadership and Inspire Your Peers

Be recognized as one of the leaders who is driving action towards the SDGs in Canada.

The 17 SDGs are the world’s plan for achieving a better future for all – laying out a path until 2030 to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and protect our planet. Through your participation in the Awards, we hope that you can lead and inspire more Canadian companies to embed the SDGs into their commercial practices.

Learn from Peer Reviewing Groups

Winners will be awarded and recognized through a peer reviewing process. Your application will be grouped with 3-4 other applicants in your industry. Feedback will be given to you as well as an average score out of 10.

The peer reviewing groups is a great way to benchmark your organization’s sustainability programs to industry peers and receive substantive and qualitative feedback on your current practices to advance the SDGs.

Publish your entry in the SDGs Emerging Practice Guide

If you submit your entry before February 20, there is a chance that your entry will also be published in the SDGs Emerging Practice Guide.

The SDGs Emerging Practice Guide will be published in spring 2019 in partnership with Global Affairs Canada.

Judging Process

After submitting your entry, we will create a designated profile for your 2019 SDG Leadership Awards nomination.

To ensure integrity and transparency, the Award winners will be selected based on the following:

  • Number of Public Votes (40% weight)
  • Score from the Peer-Review Process (60% weight)

Public Voting

At the heart of the SDG Leadership Awards is to raise awareness for the SDGs and to recognize companies who are advocating and inspiring others to adopt the SDGs. Therefore, as a signature part of the Awarding program, the general public can take part in the winner selection process through public voting.

Peer-Reviewing Groups

The peer-review groups aim to encourage peer-to-peer learning and provide qualitative feedback from your peers to help improve your company’s practices to adopt the SDGs. The process will take place in August 2019 and your company will be placed in a group of 4. Please view the judging criteria form here.

Awarding Categories

There will be 3 winners from the Large Enterprise category, 3 winners from the Small/Medium Enterprise category and 3 winners from the NGO category.
