Andrea Goertz is TELUS’ Chief Communications and Sustainability Officer. With more than 25 years of experience in finance, business development, communications and corporate strategy, Andrea is a sought-after leader and speaker. She leads a national team responsible for the execution of a diverse portfolio comprised of TELUS’ social and media relations, community investment, executive communications, real estate, sustainability, sponsorships and privacy.
Andrea embraces a triple bottom line approach to business, focusing on the social, economic and environmental impact of the numerous programs she oversees. In 2015, Andrea helped deliver TELUS Garden, TELUS’ corporate home in downtown Vancouver. Recognized as an architectural and green design icon, TELUS Garden earned the distinction of receiving the highest LEED scorecard ever by Canada’s Green Building Council. With the completion of TELUS Garden, our upcoming TELUS Sky tower in Calgary and our numerous LEED certified facilities across the country, TELUS’ portfolio of green spaces has significantly increased over the years. Andrea’s passion for creating the environmentally-focused workplace of the future also includes the launch of Work Styles, an innovative program enabling TELUS team members to work where and when it is most convenient and productive for them, she created more than a decade ago.
Andrea is dedicated to TELUS’ philanthropic promise, We give where we live, and to building caring and compassionate communities from coast to coast to coast. By way of example, in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, TELUS contributed more than one million volunteer hours in 2017. Andrea is also committed to protecting the privacy of TELUS customers, and leads the evolution of TELUS’ privacy model – built on trust and transparency – and our innovative educational program, TELUS WISE, empowering Canadians to use online technology safely.
Andrea’s stellar results have contributed to TELUS earning national and global recognition, including Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures, Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporation, and being named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index for 17 consecutive years, and to the World Index for two. Andrea’s visionary leadership has earned her a coveted position on the WXN Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards in 2012 and in 2014.
