Mark is the Vice President of Community and Government Relations for Teck. In this role he is responsible for Teck’s corporate sustainability strategy, community and government relations activities, including indigenous affairs, and the corporate community investment program. Mark provides guidance on the on-going development and implementation of corporate policies and programs which guide Teck’s engagement with the communities, governments, and indigenous peoples in the jurisdictions in which we operate.
Mark joined the company in 1993. He has previously held roles in the corporate Environmental department and also worked for 14 years in senior roles at the company’s zinc and lead operation in Trail, B.C. Mark is currently on the Board of Directors for the Mining Association of British Columbia, chairs the Environment Committee of the International Zinc Association, and is on the Board of Directors for the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Doctorate degree in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Calgary.
Mark was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, where he met his wife, Katarina, while attending the University of Calgary. They spent two years in Toronto and then moved back west to the Kootenay region of B.C. where they started and raised a family. Mark and Katarina have two children.
