The World is Moving to Net-Zero. Is Your Company Ready?
The Climate Ambition Accelerator is a six-month accelerator programme designed to equip companies in Canada with the knowledge and skills they need to set and achieve science-based emissions reduction targets. Aligned with the 1.5℃ pathway, this programme supports companies in making measurable progress toward a net-zero future by 2050.
Through the United Nations Global Compact Network Canada, participating companies will gain access to global best practices, peer-to-peer learning opportunities, practical activities, capacity-building sessions, and on-demand training. Led by the United Nations Global Compact, the Climate Ambition Accelerator is designed to support companies of all sizes and industries in accelerating credible climate action.
No matter where your company is on its sustainability journey, the Climate Ambition Accelerator will provide the tools and knowledge needed to lead the way towards a net-zero economy.

Who Can Participate?
To take part in the Climate Ambition Accelerator, companies must be participants of the UN Global Compact or willing to join. Eligible companies must also:
- Be currently engaged with the UN Global Compact Network Canada or willing to join.
- Be committed to setting ambitious emissions reduction targets aligned with climate science and the Paris Agreement.
- Assign two representatives to actively participate in the accelerator activities and an executive-level representative to oversee progress and engage in high-level discussions.

What to Expect from the Programme
1. Setting the Scene
Introduction to the programme, cohort participants, and key tools.
2. Greenhouse Gas Inventory
In-depth exploration of emissions accounting methodologies and best practices for implementing a comprehensive greenhouse gas emissions inventory.
3. Setting Science-Based Targets
Engagement with the Science Based Targets initiative, understanding key methodologies, and identifying the internal resources required to succeed.
4. Emissions Management
Development of effective emissions reduction strategies tailored to business needs and sustainability goals.
5. Wrap-Up and Future Planning
Participants consolidate their findings, share lessons learned, and identify next steps for ongoing climate action within their organizations.
The Impact of the Climate Ambition Accelerator
- 1,120 companies across 46 networks and 85 countries completed the Climate Ambition Accelerator in 2024.
- Over 200 science-based targets have been set by participating companies.
- Participants report that the programme provides a benchmark for assessing current strategies, fosters insightful discussions, and enhances their ability to drive climate action.
