WAGE Project Intern (6 months)

POSITION TITLE: Project Intern

WORK LOCATION: Canada, Remote

Terms: 6 month full-time, remote contract

Length of Contract: October 2023 – March 2024

The successful candidate will work with the Project Manager and Project Associate to implement a multi-year project that aims to advance gender equality in the private sector and eliminate systemic barriers for marginalized or underrepresented women in the labour market.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct primary and secondary research on corporate best practices to advance gender equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Assist with the development of case studies, report materials, and other written documents.
  • Prepare minutes, rationale documents, reports, etc.
  • Support the project team to streamline processes and procedures, and maintain systems that will help effectively plan, track, and deliver projects successfully.
  • Identify and coordinate effective ways to promote the project successfully and support the marketing plan.
  • Support the project team with miscellaneous tasks related to delivering the project.

 COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A demonstrable knowledge of gender equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Strong research skills with the ability to gather and critically analyze information on social issues.
  • Strong communications competencies for report writing, briefing project team, contributing to deliverables, etc.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and respectful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Equally comfortable with independent work and as a collaborative team member.
  • Strong alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN Global Compact, especially SDG  5: Advance gender equality and empower all women.

 EDUCATION AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in gender studies, sustainability, social justice, communications, history, labour studies, economics or a relevant subject.
  • Proficiency in English is essential
  • French language is an asset
