Mark Sevestre

Senior Advisor, Mokwateh


Mark Sevestre is Haudenosaunee Mohawk and resides in the Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation Territory in Ontario. A dedicated Husband and Father of twin sons, Mark has taken seriously the impact he can have within the Indigenous Community and Indigenous Youth. 

Mark joined Mokwateh as a Senior Advisor in September of 2024.  Bringing his 25 years of experience in Indigenous Investment and Trust management and continues serving as the General Manager of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation Community Trust and as a Financial Trustee for the Louis Bernard Legacy Trust for the Madawaska Maliseet First Nation.  

As a Founding Member of the National Aboriginal Trust Officers Association in 2006, Mark had led the Reconciliation and Responsible Investment Initiative in partnership with Share Canada, which linked Indigenous Values to Indigenous Investing as well as helping Non-Indigenous Investors utilize their portfolios to achieve the goals of Reconciliation in Canada, from 2018 to 2024. Mark led several corporate shareholder engagements on behalf of the Mississaugas of the Credit Community Trust with Publicly Traded Canadian Corporations for the development of Indigenous Policies and Reconciliation Action Plans 

Mark also currently serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Tallgrass Institute, formerly known as First Peoples Worldwide at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Mark serves on Non-Indigenous Boards as well, with responsibilities on the Investment Committees for the Mount Allison University Board of Regents and the Toronto based Atkinson Foundation. Mark served as Branch/Financial Services Manager for the Bank of Montreal, opening a full-service branch in the Onyota’aka (Oneida) First Nation near London, Ontario in 1995.   Mark served the Off-Reserve Indigenous Peoples of Nova Scotia in 1993-95 as an Economic Development Officer. Mark holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Mount Allison University, NB (1991) and began his working career within the Federal Government’s Indigenous Affairs and as an Assistant Coach for the Mount Allison Mounties Football team.
