Emma Richard

Graphic Recorder and Illustrator

Emma Richard (“rih-shard”) is a graphic recorder and illustrator with over seven years of experience in the field. She is a white settler of Irish, Italian, French, and German heritage, and was born, raised, and currently lives in Deshkan Ziibing (Antler River), also known as London, Ontario. Emma lives with her wife near the river, which she loves because she gets to see so many birds.

Emma’s work focuses on witnessing conversations and capturing information in a visual, engaging, and generative way. Prior to working as a graphic recorder, Emma obtained a degree in mechatronic systems engineering at Western University, ran a catering business, and volunteered at the front desk of a co-working space. As a graphic recorder, Emma has captured large-scale conferences, intimate team meetings, interactive workshops, and many, many Zoom calls. Emma has loved art since she was little, and continues to develop her practice of listening, noticing, making connections, and bringing it all to life on the page each day. She believes that graphic recording is an endlessly interesting and deeply human practice of listening and creating, and is grateful for the honour of witnessing and capturing so many gatherings.
